In just about every town, there’s a local restaurant that everybody knows, loves, and talks about. For me, it’s Mambo Italiano, and good news, they’re open for Easter AND they’re offering additional weekend specials!
See their posts on Facebook here: Mambo Italiano Facebook Page!
Given that Easter is this Sunday, April 12, let’s start there. First of all, there is a set menu of things to choose from at $26/person, which isn’t too bad. The quality of their food is phenomenal and the taste is out of this world! They are taking pre-orders from 1pm-4pm by this Friday and are doing delivery or curb-side pickup.
Besides the obvious of serving Bread and an Italian Salad, they’re also serving two main dishes and an appetizer. For the main dishes, they’re serving a Roasted Lamb Shank with Rosemary, Peas, Garlic, and Cherry Tomatoes; the second main dish is Penne Pasta Marinara (this is definitely something that people can enjoy if they don’t like lamb). The appetizer on their Easter menu is Potato Croquettes, and boy do they make good ones!
Now, getting off of the Easter topic, Mambo Italiano holds a special place in my heart. My family and I were basically their first customers and we’ve never turned back since Day One. We’ve had countless birthdays, anniversaries, and just dinners out there over the many, many years that they’ve graced Mundelein with their delicious presence.
They have my favorite Italian food around (besides homemade of course). From pasta, to seafood, to chicken, and meat, there’s not one thing that Mambo’s doesn’t serve. The wait staff is incredible and VERY TALENTED as they have to memorize a million specials and never skip a beat.
Sal and Briana…..what can I say? They are the owners of this establishment and some great family friends. They are two of the most kind hearted and talented and creative people who I’ve ever met. They’re not only owners, but they are very involved with their restaurants and always pop in every good while. They also have a new place that they recently opened, called The Wild Buffalo Gastropub in Buffalo Grove, IL. Definitely check Sal and Briana out and tell them the Mengarelli’s sent you. 😉
I will leave you with this: if you try Mambo Italiano’s food and they ask what side you want, get the Vesuvio Potatoes. I promise you won’t be disappointed and you’ll be asking for seconds AND thirds!
Remember, as the local community restaurants have given to us, it’s time that we give back to them, especially during these hard times!
Let us know if you have a favorite Italian place by you! Also, let us, and fellow readers, know what other lovely establishments are open Easter Weekend!
