Over the years, there’s been many flavors of Oreos released. Let’s take a look at some and see where they rank.
Oreos are a classic snack/treat that everybody loves. There have been so many flavors that have come out through the years. I’ve chosen the Top 13 Oreo varieties and ranked them below (minus the Original and Golden of course).
From last to first, let’s take a look and see where each flavor of Oreos sits on the list.
13. Apple Pie
This variety of Oreos was released for Fall 2017 (and has since come back for several Fall seasons in a row). Now, like most of the flavors on this list, there’s nothing bad about them, some just rank higher than others.
This variety comes with graham cracker-flavored cookies (which is the best part). As for the filling, it doesn’t taste so much like apple pie, but more like a sweet cinnamon icing. This flavor would definitely be ranked higher if it tasted more like one of the best pies on this Earth.
12. Swedish Fish
This one just sounds strange, but oddly enough, it tastes pretty good. It comes with the traditional chocolate cookies; however, I feel this variety would’ve tasted much better with a vanilla (golden) cookie.
The cream on the inside is bright red and tastes pretty darn close to the gummy candy itself without actually eating the candy. This flavor would’ve been ranked a bit higher had it had the vanilla cookie instead of the chocolate. This probably has to be my favorite “weird” flavor of Oreo that’s out there.
11. Chocolate Hazelnut
This particular variety was a limited edition flavor (I’m not sure if it’s still available anymore). I have one problem with this flavor; it comes with the vanilla cookie. In my opinion, it would’ve tasted ten times better with the chocolate cookie and chocolate filling as opposed to the vanilla cookie (they should’ve swapped cookies with the Swedish Fish variety).
As far as taste goes, don’t get me wrong this one was good, but I’d rather just take two chocolate Oreo cookies without the traditional white cream, and slap some Nutella in between them and call it a day.

10. Red Velvet
The inside of this flavor is the best part; the cream cheese frosting-flavored filling. While the cookies are red, they really taste no different from the traditional chocolate cookies; however, if we had chocolate cookies with this, there’d be no point in calling it red velvet.
Overall, this flavor is pretty good and tastes like you’re eating a personal red velvet mini cake.
9. Lemon (Thins)
This flavor comes in the regular, thicker cookie, but I prefer it in the Oreo Thins version. The lemon flavor is so light that it’s the perfect little dessert.
The lemon flavor isn’t too strong and works perfectly with the vanilla cookie. The reason the thins are better is that it just matches the lightness to the lemon flavor and goes hand-in-hand. Overall, this is one of the flavors on this list that I would continue to purchase, and one I think that everyone needs to try (it almost tastes like the lemon Girl Scout cookies).
8. Hot & Spicy Cinnamon
I feel like this one will shock a lot of people. This came out a while ago, and I believe was limited edition. It wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t the best. This flavor tastes almost exactly like the Hot Tamales candy, mixed with a little taste of chocolate.
The good thing about this flavor is that the hot cinnamon filling over powers the chocolate cookie and doesn’t taste too weird against each other; it’s weird, but it just kind of works.
7. Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie
This. One. Right. Here. This flavor is super underrated in my opinion. I feel like most people will read this and not even know that this flavor variety existed. This is definitely the flavor that you didn’t know you were missing out on.
It tastes like a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, but a tad less sweet (not in a bad way at all). One way that this flavor could’ve been even better, would be to add a peanut butter-flavored cookie and a chocolate filling or vice versa; however, the cookie is perfect the way it is and I’m glad it was designed the way that it was.
6. White Fudge-Coated (Thin Bites)
SO SO GOOD; however I have one problem. They’re so small that I could eat the whole bag and already need to go buy another one.
This one is just so perfect in so many ways. I personally love white chocolate (and Oreos too, of course), and putting the two flavors together works perfectly. If you’re looking for a little sweet snack, but want to make yourself feel better, definitely try these, and the smaller they are, the less guilty you’ll feel.

5. Dark Chocolate
I never thought I’d love an Oreo flavor so much. This was one of those flavors that someone brought home for me to try, and I so wish they hadn’t. This was probably one of the few flavors of Oreo that I couldn’t stop eating (besides the Original ones of course).
A lot of people I know don’t like dark chocolate, but this flavor doesn’t taste like super strong dark chocolate. It tastes almost like a mix of milk and dark chocolate with more of a hint of dark chocolate. Don’t knock this one ’til you try it; you won’t be sorry you did!
4. Peeps
What could be better than a marshmallow smashed in between two cookies? Not much, and that’s exactly what this one tasted like. It tasted like you put a Peep in between the two vanilla cookies. Peeps have that iconic flavor and color, and this flavor did not disappoint on either end of the spectrum. Although the ones I tried were bright, neon pink, I’m not sure if they came out with a variety of their classic yellow color as well.
The one thing I was missing here was those classic crystalized sugar that envelopes the normal Peeps Marshmallows. Maybe, Oreo should come out with another Peep variety and dip them in white chocolate and cover them in sugar…..
3. Birthday Cake (Golden)
This flavor comes both in the classic chocolate cookie and the vanilla golden cookie. I’ve tried both, and I have to say that I much prefer the golden cookie to the chocolate cookie. With the golden cookie, it almost gives it more of a cake batter ice cream type of flavor, which has been a favorite of mine for forever. It also comes with confetti sprinkles in it, so, what more do I need to say?
There’s really nothing bad to say about this one or anything I would change. The good thing is that this flavor never goes out of season; it’s always available and definitely one you should go ahead and try if you haven’t already.
2. Pistachio (Thins)
This is yet another flavor that I think many people never knew existed. It comes with the classic chocolate cookie, only the thins version. It is like the lemon thins, in that it is very light and goes perfectly with a nice hot cup of coffee after dinner as your dessert.
With flavors like this, it makes sense to want to smell it to see if it smells like the flavor advertises; however, it doesn’t smell super strong of pistachio, but the flavor is there for sure. Definitely find these and try them out for yourself.
1. Mint
I’m a big chocolate mint person, so obviously this one is my number one ranked favorite flavor. It’s even my favorite Blizzard flavor to get at any Dairy Queen.
It’s got a sweeter mint type of flavor that’s not too strong for kids to eat or for people who aren’t too keen on mint. These Oreos make the perfect dessert, topping for ice cream, add-ins for a milkshake, literally anything. If there’s one that you eat from this list, try these ones and make a milkshake with some vanilla ice cream; it’ll be your new go-to late night, Netflix-watching snack to have (and you won’t be sorry, you’ll be thanking me later)!
Let us know what you think of this ranking and which flavors are your favorites that we may have missed on this list down below in the comments!
