Candy companies are always coming out with sweet treats for us to love. Some candies, however, are hot and spicy and come with an acquired taste. What do  you think about spicy candies?

Which are the hottest and spiciest candies out there? Time for some spice in our sweet treats! In the following slides, we’re chatting about the most popular spicy candies.

I’m sure we’ve all seen the countless candies out there that are advertised as being hot and spicy. For me, I love it and I’m a huge fan of cinnamon-flavored gum candy like that. However, for others, spicy candy is definitely an acquired taste.

We’ve decided to take a look at some of the spiciest candies on the market right now, and whether or not they’re worth a shot.

Hot and spicy candies are certainly an acquired taste for most, but for people like me, it is something that I like to eat and it tastes hot, but then goes away and leaves you with fresh breath nonetheless!

From super hot candies that make it on the Scoville Scale, to spicy versions of some cult classic favorite regular candies, this list will surely cover it all and definitely have you trying something new, that’s for darn sure.

If you love hot and spicy things, and you like candies, then this list may be perfect and right up your alley. Check out this list and let us know what you think

Hot Tamales

One of the most well-known and popular hot and spicy candies out there is Hot Tamales. They might look like innocent, and sweet and sour little Mike & Ike’s, however, they’re far from that. Sure, they’ve got the same shape and texture, but if you bite into one thinking it’s a cherry Mike & Ike, you’ll surely be surprised when you taste a hot cinnamon flavor, that’s for darn sure!

I feel like if you like the texture and general shape to a Mike & Ike candy, and you like the strong flavor of cinnamon, similar to any cinnamon-mint or cinnamon flavor-based gum, then you’ll probably like these Hot Tamales. These might even be a new favorite of your own there as well!

Personally, I never tried Hot Tamales until I was somewhere in early grade school. It used to be one of my Dad’s favorite candies to eat, and they’d always be in our candy bowl on Halloween every year. Given that I love cinnamon gum and other things like that, Hot Tamales are definitely just a step spicier that the average cinnamon-mint or gum, and I like it that.

If you don’t like chewing gum, but want cinnamon fresh breath, give Hot Tamales a try for sure! These can be considered as good “beginner” spicy candies.

Atomic Fireballs

According to Old Time Candy, Atomic Fireballs were first created back in 1954 in the times of atomic bombs and all things related like such.

Atomic Fireballs are a unique form of a jawbreaker that surely stands out for how slowly it begins to burn your tongue with its super spicy cinnamon flavor and taste alike (so, yes, if it’s even possible, even hotter than the Hot Tamales that you just read about in the above section/paragraphs. Surely cinnamon can’t make Atomic Fireballs so hot on its own, right?

Wanna know the secret ingredient that makes these so hot and burns a hole in your tongue? Well folks, that would be capsicum; this is the compound that makes hot peppers hot. Want even one more quick and cool fact about these Atomic Fireballs?

Well, according to the manufacturer, Atomic Fireballs rate a 3500 on the Scoville Scale (that measures spiciness of course), which puts them right in the range and same general categories with jalapeños and similar peppers to that alike! WOW!

If you love spicy and you love jawbreakers, these may be your new thing so definitely give them a try wherever you may find them nearest locations unique to yourself!

Hot Chili Pepper Gummies

From The Green Head and Really Hot! on Amazon, these semi-newish spicy gummies are made from true and real chili peppers and blended with sweet flavors. On The Green Head’s website, they stated the following phrases:

"In each three pack of pepper-shaped gummies, you get 1 green apple / jalapeño, 1 orange / habañero, and 1 cherry / ghost pepper. The perfect little snacks that will take you from AWW to WOW to OWW!"

Now, I’ve tried something like this before, maybe not the exact brand I can’t really remember, and it wasn’t too bad. Sure, they were hot and a bit on the spicy side, but I can’t truly remember if the ghost pepper-based flavored one was really that hot. I’ve had stuff with ghost peppers in it before, and I’ve gotta say that it’s definitely a flavor that you’ll remember (that being said, I’m sure that if the gummy tasted somewhat exactly like the pepper, that I’d remember something like that, you know what I mean?).

If you’re adventurous and would like to try something like this, then definitely don’t shy away and let us know just how hot they were down in the comments below this article here!

Spiced Gum Drops

From and according to Nuts.com, their Spiced Gum Drops go something like this:

"Our chewy spice drops are classic, sugar-coated gumdrops with a little extra spice! In great flavors including clove, cinnamon, anise, spearmint, sassafras and wintergreen. Gift these to a gumdrop lover or stock up on spice drops. Spice drops are also super handy during gingerbread house season."

That being said, if you like a little extra minty-based spice, then these will definitely be for you as well! I personally am also a huge fan of these alike. While they don’t have the spice of a pepper-based food item here, they still definitely do not disappoint on the minty spiced flavor.

This is probably the candy on this list and slideshow the most that will help you with some minty fresh breath. There are so many brands of this, such as generic and even name-brands like Brach’s (I believe Brach’s has Spiced Gum Drops, but so definitely check before you go looking for to buy any here).

These (Spiced Gum Drops) have been around for a while, I’m assuming, and have bene a favorite of kids and adults alike as well. They’re not too spicy to where a kid can’t handle it, but also just minty and spicy enough to be considered spicy and on this list!

Again, if you love minty candies, and you love gum drops and sugar-coated candies like these, then these will surely be your new jam and you new candy-based love as well!

Jolly Rancher Hotties

I believe I’ve had these before a long time ago, and if I’m remembering correctly, then these are probably the candy on this list that goes the most from sweet to spicy and vice versa. The way the spicy flavor goes is definitely similar to Sour Patch Kids and their flavors as well. It goes something like this: spicy then sweet or sweet then spicy, depending on how your palette is in particular here.

These are the flavors that Jolly Rancher Hotties come in:

  • Watermelon CAYENNE
  • Blue Raspberry SRIRACHA
  • Cherry HABANERO
  • Green Apple GINGER

If you look at and read the flavors up above, you may see GINGER (chews, for example purposes here) and think, that can’t be that spicy and hot can it? Well, think again! While I love ginger personally, I know that it is considered to be hot and spicy for some, depending on its strength, and might not be loved by all.

I don’t remember trying the GINGER one at least, but now that I’ve been doing some research and know that the Green Apple flavor is the GINGER spicy flavor, I will definitely have to go to the store, make a quick run, even if it’s just to a CVS or Walgreens, and pick up a bag for myself to try (again, right).

Definitely give these a go if you love the regular Jolly Ranchers and are interested in trying Jolly Rancher Hotties!!

Hot Pepper Lollipops

There are all sorts of versions of some Hot Pepper Lollipops, but one brand that, upon doing some research here, sort of stuck out to me, and that is the following brand here: Melville Candy Spicy Chili Pepper Lollipops (what a long name, huh).

Anyways here, here’s just exactly what Amazon and Mellville said about their Hot Pepper Lollipops:

"Spicy food lovers will eat up these Spicy Chili Pepper Lollipops. Each set contains 4 hard candy lollipops infused with chili pepper bits on wooden ball sticks. Each gift set comes with one green lollipop (mild habanero), one orange lollipop (medium chili) and two red lollipops (hot habanero)."

So upon doing research, I’m guessing that these Hot Pepper Lollipops are all some sort of version of a Habanero chili hot pepper, depending on levels of heat directly and respectively.

If you want to give these a try and are willing to take a risk as to how hot they are, definitely give them a go and try them out for yourselves!

If I find these at a store nearest to me, I am definitely giving them a try because I would like to compare how they compare to the gummies version and how hot each of them are in their own given ways, respectively, so maybe y’all should do the same as well! C’mon and try them with me and let me know what you also think too!

Sour Patch

Sour Patch Fire

Sour Patch Fire versions also come in Sour Patch Freeze flavors, but for now, let’s just talk about the Sour Patch Fire HOT versions (not the freeze flavors here).

So far, Sour Patch Fire comes in four flavors that are listed on the back of every bag you’ll see and/or purchase, and they go as follows:

  • Berry Blaze (PURPLE COLOR)
  • Tropical Flame (ORANGE COLOR)
  • Apple Fever (GREEN COLOR)
  • Angry Watermelon (RED COLOR)

Now, I do remember trying these before, and they’re actually pretty good. They are certainly the perfect balance of SPICY, sweet, and sour, without one being too overpowering over the other of candies!

When trying these, I remember that all of the flavors were very good, and neither of them were too hot to handle (in my opinion, though, although hot and levels of spiciness are subjective to the person), so remember that as always!

If you like sour candy, you’ll definitely want to give these a try and like them. The same goes for if you  love sweet candy. You’ll enjoy these either way!

If you like hot and spicy candy, you’ll definitely want to give these a try, as well. So, all of that being said, if you like any candy including gummies, then you’ll probably like these and want to try them out for yourselves alike here!

Warheads

Warheads has a version of their classically super sour candies called HOTHEADS, and much like you might assume here, they’re super SPICY instead of super sweet.

While the spicy versions, that consist of Sizzlin’ Strawberry, Atomic Green Apple, and Fiery Watermelon, are spicy as I do remember trying them, the regular SOUR Warheads are spicy and hot in their own special way. They are so sour that sometimes it almost gives your tongue the same exact flavor and feeling as a SUPER HOT AND SPICY candy would do alikewise.

There are so many versions of Warheads, and let me tell ya, they are all extreme versions here! Warheads, in my personal opinion, are real good, and I definitely would like to give these yet another try because I don’t quite remember what they taste like, however, I do remember liking them.

All in all, Warheads have been quite the classic for a long times here. Many people think that they’re too sour; however, the sour and SPICINESS goes away just as quickly as it comes, but it still isn’t for the faint of mouth, heart, or whatever is to be said here.

So, all of that being said, if you’ve tried the cult classic favorites of Warheads, you like spicy or sour, then these HOTHEADS should definitely be your new thing and jam as well!

All in all, with all of this being said, HOT AND SPICY candies are surely hot and may not be for people who can’t take the heat, as I’d like to currently say; however, if you’re like me, you can take the heat, and you like to try new things and experiment here, then try ALL of these candies on this list here.

Again, some of these candies may be listed on the official Scoville Scale, and some may not, but TRUST ME, they’re all hot and spicy in their own given and unique ways alike and likewise here. Don’t knock spicy candies until you try them. Just because they’re hot and spicy doesn’t mean that they’re not sweet or that you automatically won’t like them.

Chances are, if you try them, you’ll like them because they’re not spicy all the time for the entire time you’re eating them. Some flavors linger, some go away just as quickly as they become.

Try them for yourselves and let us know!

In the comments down below, let us know if you think that you can take the heat of spicy candies! Also, if you’ve ever tried a hot candy that you think we missed, or that we listed that you like, let us know what you think at all in general!
