Red wine can be used to create tie-dye fashions

If you are a red wine drinker, then you may have experienced the dreaded spill. What I mean by this is that at some point in time, you have probably gotten red wine on fabric and you know what happens next – the wine leaves behind a purple, red, pinkish colored stain.

Knowing what this particular wine can do to fabric, is it any surprise that as part of the current trend of tie-dying clothes, especially t-shirts, people have turned to red wine for their tie-dye needs. That’s right, people are using red wine for their tie-dye creations!

According to Delish, there are even steps online for how to use the wine to do your tie-dye projects, with the site themselves offering up instructions for what to do.

While you could always buy a specialty kit with different color dyes, if you don’t feel like doing that and you have extra bottles of wine in your cabinet, then you may want to give this a try. The fact that all you need is a bottle of wine, a pot to boil in, rubber bands, and whatever fabric you are tie-dying means that this is a really easy project.

Now, I don’t know about you, but I can’t imagine using wine to do crafts. I mean, I’ll drink it while crafting, but actually using it for the project just seems wrong to me.

I am here for the painting and wine classes or the girls night with wine on hand, but actually using my good red wine for a tie-dye project might just be pushing it. However, if you have a lot of red wine and you don’t really drink it, at least you know what you can do with it now. Break out the white shirts and get to dying.

What do you think of using your wine for a tie-dye project? Have you done this yet? Tell us what you think in the comments.
