Krispy Kreme’s got free doughnuts for National Doughnut Day

Can we please agree on a spelling here?

This Friday, June 7, 2024, is National Donut Day. Or perhaps it’s Nation Doughnut Day? At some point, I think we’re going to need the government to step in here and decide on a spelling. But until that time, we’ll just know those delicious round circles of dough are finally getting their day in the sun – though hopefully not literally, because a doughnut sitting out all day in the sun? Yuck.

And when it comes to Krispy Kreme, it’s all about National Doughnut Day, per their spelling of the treat. While some other chains might be giving out a free doughnut with a purchase, not so for Krispy Kreme… On Friday, you can walk in, demand (or ask nicely) for a free doughnut, and walk right out again, hopefully into the shade so your doughnut doesn’t get too messy.

“Krispy Kreme fans look forward to National Doughnut Day every year, and this year they can get their favorite for free!” said Dave Skena, Global Chief Brand Officer, via a press release provided to Guilty Eats. “It’s a sweet day all around. We can’t wait to thank everyone for their love of Krispy Kreme doughnuts.”

As mentioned above, there are basically no restrictions here. The only one is that this doesn’t include limited time only doughnuts. Right now, that eliminates the Dolly Southern Sweets collection, which includes the Dolly Dazzler, Banana Puddin’ Pie, Peachy-Keen Cobbler, and Chocolate Crème Pie. But any other doughnut on the menu? No need to work 9 to 5, you can just get ‘em free.

In addition to the free doughnut “deal,” if you want to share the wealth around, you can also snag a $2 Original Glazed dozen with the purchase of any other dozen on Friday (including Dolly's doughnuts). The caveat here is that you need to purchase them in a shop, or via a drive-thru.

That’s just how Krispy Kreme rolls on National Doughnut Day: one doughnut, or two dozen doughnuts. There is no in-between. Go big or go home, they say, and you can’t spell “doughnut” without “gh” which stands for “go home.” I really tried to tie this one back to the beginning, and I’ll be honest, I don’t think it worked.

Next. Do not eat these Dunkin’ donuts!! They’re actually sponges. Do not eat these Dunkin’ donuts!! They’re actually sponges. dark
