Dunkin’ Donuts s’mores coffee swirl will sweeten your summer
It can be hard to keep track of all the flavor options at any given coffee shop, but we encourage you to take note immediately of the new Dunkin’ Donuts s’mores coffee swirl.
Flavored coffee is quite the beast. Done well, it’s an exceptional twist on an important and foundational beverage. Done poorly, it tastes artificial and almost undrinkable. Coffee shops do best with flavors when they really lean into the “this is a dessert not a drink” strategy. As, it appears, Dunkin’ Donuts has done with extremely enticing s’mores coffee swirls, coming to a DD menu near you May 29.
S’mores are delicious, but s’mores flavored things are pretty hit or miss. S’mores Oreos: Great. S’mores Frappuccinos: Pass, please. Dunkin’ Donuts has a pretty solid track record with flavored coffees and specifically with distilling desserts into coffee. (See: Fudge Brownie, Vanilla Cupcake and Cookie Dough flavors.) Dunkin’ has also low-key offered s’mores coffee in ground and Keurig cup form for awhile now.
Meaning, we have faith that if anyone can pull off s’mores coffee in the shop, it’s DD.
Dunkin’ is developing a “s’mores flavor swirl” to execute their plan to make s’mores in drinkable form, giving you the flexibility to turn the beverage of your choice (hot coffee, iced coffee, lattes, frozen coffee) into a s’more.
Moreover, s’mores are not the only dessert Dunkin’ is adding to the drink menu this summer. Coconut Creme Pie and Butter Pecan swirls are both seasonal options as well, if the graham cracker, marshmallow and chocolate mashup is not for you.
If that’s not enough to entice you into a Dunkin’ Donuts shop this summer, they would also very much like you to know they’ve debuted two new donuts too. The Vanilla Cake Batter Donut is filled with (you guessed it) vanilla cake batter and frosted with chocolate icing. The Sprinkles Donut is frosted with white icing and topped with pink and orange DD sprinkles.
Oh, and National Donut Day? The day Dunkin’ gives out free donuts with the purchase of a beverage? That’s June 2.
Do with this information what you will.
