S’mores Donut, another way to celebrate National Donut Day

The first Friday in June is the National Donut Day. Transform the regular donut into a summertime treat with the s’mores donut.

Donuts come in many flavors, shapes and sizes. From the most popular glazed to the maple bacon long john, everyone has a favorite donut. While some people may enjoy a donut with a morning coffee, the donut can be transformed into much more. Why not create a s’mores donut for National Donut Day.

National Donut Day isn’t just a celebration of the delicious donut. The day remembers the Donut Lassies of the Salvation Army. These female Salvation Army volunteers provided all types of supplies for the front line soldiers, including donuts.

Did you know that the Salvation Army fried donuts in soldiers’ helmets?

Today, donuts are everywhere. From Entenmann’s rich frosted donuts on store shelves to the crazy, elaborate flavors of Vodoo Donuts, everyone can indulge their donut craving. But, the donut isn’t just a treat by itself anymore. Donuts in recipes are an easy way to create a semi-homemade dessert.

Instead of letting all the extra donuts from National Donut Day go to waste, turn those donuts into a simple dessert. For example, a box of rich frosted Entenmann’s donuts can easily be made into donut s’mores.

S’mores are a popular summertime dessert. Roasted marshmallows sandwiched between graham crackers and chocolate are a delightful way to end the day. Why not replace those graham crackers with a donut.
