Chick-fil-A is one of the most popular fast food chains. On the annual Cow Appreciation Day, Chick-fil-A customers can get free food.

Those Southern style chicken sandwiches are addicting. Maybe it is how the chicken is fried or maybe it is the pickle. Fans of Chick-fil-A will go out of their way to satisfy a chicken craving. July 11 is the annual Cow Appreciation Day and people are getting excited.

This year marks the 13th year for the Chick-fil-A customer appreciation event. To receive a free entrée, customers should wear their black and white spots. In other words, customers who fit the bovine part can get free food at Chick-fil-A.

While kids must dress in an actual cow costume, adults just need to wear some type of cow attire. Over the years, I have seen families create their special outfits. From spotted cow shirts to udderly silly cow hats, the annual celebration is about having fun. True, customers want a free entrée, but the event is more than just free food. It is about fans coming together as a community.

Chick-fil-A has held firm on its company’s values. Putting aside political views, the device free eating incentive is commendable. At some Chick-fil-A locations, families are encouraged to put down the devices and have a real conversation over a meal. Some of the kids’ meals had table cards to encourage a dialogue at the table. Also, some locations offered free ice cream for putting away the devices. Other fast food companies haven’t taken on this challenge.

Also, the kids’ meals at Chick-fil-A often have an educational slant. From educational games to actual books, the company focuses on beneficial kids’ activities in the kids’ meals. Kids can gain so much more from a toy with an educational purpose versus just a plastic movie tie-in.

While Chick-fil-A is committed to doing more for its customers every day, the annual customer appreciation day is a fun way to bring fans together. The iconic cow marketing campaign is now synonymous with the company. What better way to encourage others to “eat mor chikin” that people dressed up as cows.
