Starbucks steps up their Nitro Coffee game with new flavors at Reserve bars

Exclusive to Starbucks Reserve bars, the coffee chain will now offer their powerful nitro brews in delightful new flavors.

Nitro Brew coffee — cold brew coffee infused with nitrogen gas to give it a Guinness-esque consistency — is fancy, expensive and pretty delicious. Starbucks has offered the style for a few years now, while at the same time, expanding the company’s “high-end” Reserve brand. The two efforts have dove-tailed recently, as Starbucks announced that Reserve coffee bars will serve new flavored Nitro Cold Brews.

As Teen Vogue reports, the two new flavors are Nitro Cascara Cloud, which Starbucks describes as “rich and dark chocolaty, with a hint of berry.” (The Nitro drink is inspired by the brand’s popular Cascara Latte.) The second drink, the Nitro Dirty Chai, is exactly what it sounds like.

If you’re unfamiliar with Dirty Chais — fix that pronto — the beverage is essentially a chai latte with a shot (or two) of espresso. The Nitro Dirty Chai blends chai, cream and topping things off with the Nitro Cold brew. Per Starbucks, “the warm spice flavors of the chai play well with the port-like notes of the Nitro Cold Brew.”

(For those that are curious, the Cascara Cloud flavor comes from pouring Cold Brew over vanilla bean syrup and topping with a cold foam made of milk and cascara syrup and cascara sugar. Cascara is the dried fruit of coffee cherries.)

The drinks will be available starting July 11 at Reserve bars across the U.S. If the flavor entices you but you just really aren’t one for the Nitro life, you can also get either drink without the nitrogen infusion.

Starbucks releases new flavors and buzz-worthy beverages all the time. (Never forget the Unicorn Frappuccino and all the destruction it wrought.) Pleasantly, this is an introduction for which we have no reservations — and have to hope the baristas enjoy too.
