Kristen Wiig is the new face of Pizza Hut, and it’s perfect

There’s been a reawakening of the pizza chain war between Pizza Hut and Dominos, and now Kristen Wiig is getting in on the fun.

Back in the day, Letterman versus Leno was the big time late night battle. Everyone picked a side and it was all about who could upstage the other, usually as subtly and cleverly as possible.

While Leno and Letterman are both off the air, the sentiment of their battle is alive and well in the pizza war of 2017. It’s been a while since Pizza Hut and Dominos were going at each other, but you know all is right in the world when it happens.

And it’s happening.

Pizza Hut saw Domino’s nostalgia play with the Ferris Buller ads and raised them Kristen Wiig.

Full stop.

Of course this is in direct response to Dominos getting in on the goofy nostalgia with their Ferris Buller themed commercials that double dipped on the Stranger Things craze.

Let’s be as real as we can about this though — the commercial doesn’t effect the quality of the pizza. It does, however, help give us an idea of the creative teams behind these companies and therefore gives some insight into what we can probably expect.

It had been about a decade since I ordered Dominos this year, and it was a great surprise to find that it wasn’t horrible. The commercials didn’t tip me one way or the other but advertising works differently on different people.

The moral of that story is that Dominos was good — dare I say Pizza Hut good. They’re both on the same level and going to war in advertising is the best thing we could have possibly hoped for. The world is awful, but this is at least a little something to be happy about.
