Does Chick-Fil-A really have the best sauce in fast food?

The great debate we will likely never settle involves which fast food sauce is the best — and Chick-fil-A seems to be a consensus.

You may not give it much thought, but the fast food sauce options we have before us are massively important to the way the end product tastes. A bad sauce can ruin everything, but the right dipping selection can take something like chicken nuggets or french fries to a heavenly new place.

The A.V. Club recently produced a comprehensive and exhaustive list of fast food sauces, in which they basically crown Chick-fil-A Sauce as the best in the business.

They break down each individual sauce in categories, but here’s the list of their “Awesome Sauces”.

1. Chick-fil-A Sauce
2. Popeye’s Smok’n Pepper Jam Sauce
3. Popeye’s Blackened Ranch
4. Taco Bell’s Diablo Hot Sauce
5. Arby’s Horsey Sauce
6. Chick-Fil-A’s Sweet & Spicy Sriracha
7. KFC’s Creamy Buffalo
8. McDonald’s Sriracha Mac Sauce

You can check out the full breakdown of sauces here, but let’s unpack some stuff.

First of all, kudos to McDonald’s for already having its Sriracha Mac Sauce in the Top 10. It hasn’t been out that long and already the reviews are glowing — depending on what type of meat you put it on.

Chick-Fil-A manages to snag two top spots, further proving that if you haven’t yet checked it out you need to.

Let’s not discount the inclusion here of Taco Bell’s Diablo Sauce as well as the KFC Creamy Buffalo Sauce. Popeye’s has far and away passed up KFC as the top fried chicken fast food destination, so it’s kind of nice to see them next to each other on this list.

There don’t seem to be any glaring omissions from the top list, and it’s pretty telling that there isn’t even a full ten ranked. That should make trying these sauces something you occupy your time with before you die, since in the long run you really have nothing to lose.
