Starbucks super fan and NFL player received custom cleats for game in Seattle
Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs received the perfect pair of Starbucks cleats for a Friday game in the coffee shop’s birthplace.
Stefon Diggs plays wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings, but in his spare time, he’s a bonafide Starbucks superfan with a deep love he’s willing to represent at any and all times. Including but not limited to a Friday night game versus the Seattle Seahawks in the birthplace of that very coffee chain.
Last week, Mache Custom Kicks shared a custom pair of cleats they had created for the NFL player, inspired by a Starbucks coffee cup, down to a misspelled but close enough name.
The level of detail in the cleats is also astounding. There is, of course, the sleeve and the check boxes, but the real stroke of genius is the aforementioned misspelling of Diggs’ name on the heel (“Digz”).
Diggs, apparently, really loves Starbucks. His love for Starbucks is, in his words, “a 4ever thing.” (Starbucks responded to the tweet, saying the “love is equal, forever & ever.“) Moreover, this isn’t even a promotional thing. Starbucks was not involved in the cleats’ creation and the designer, Mache Custom Kicks explained that they are “just some artistic expression for a mans [sic] love of StarBs.”
It’s a beautiful love story, but despite the fact Starbucks was not at all involved, the presence of a brand name means Diggs would still be subject to a fine if he were to wear the cleats in a game. While the Starbucks shoes were created in anticipation of the Vikings’ Friday preseason game in Seattle, it does not appear he actually wore them during the game.

The Vikings lost to the Seahawks and we have to believe it was the absence of the Starbucks cleats. Here’s hoping some Minnesota fans crowd fund enough to pay the fine and ensure Diggs can represent Starbucks properly the next time he’s in town.
