27. Fleetwood Diner — Lansing, MI

Lansing is a blue-collar university town, and such a town is ripe for places like this diner.

Fleetwood Diner is, in a lot of ways, a perfect representation of Lansing, unpretentious and so down-to-earth that the world will stop spinning if it closes, which may explain why this spot is open 24 hours.

This is also the best spot to cure that drunk feeling after drinking it up in Lansing’s many university and blue-collar bars. Again, there is nothing spectacular about Fleetwood Diner’s food, they do the basic diner cuisine here; but they do it with flavor and love, which is all you could ask for from one of Lansing’s best diners.

Period.

26. Burrito Drive — Madison, WI

If you’re picking up on a theme here, you’re not alone, nor are you drunk.

Mexican food makes for the best comfort foods late at night and in Madison, the home of the University of Wisconsin, the place to head toward after a night of stealth drinking is the Burrito Drive.

This isn’t Taco Bell people, which is also in abundance as a late-night option. Burrito Drive is the real deal, with burritos that are jam-packed with ingredients and made with real tortillas, not that fake crap.

There are other great Mexican items on the menu at Burrito Drive, but the one that your drunken self should aim for is the burrito, which will comfort you in a time when you need comforting, from yourself.
