10 things you’d eat and drink if you lived in Star Wars

Happy May 4th! It’s Star Wars Day and what better way to celebrate anything than through food?

Rather than looking at what you can eat now, let’s look at the things you’d eat and drink if you lived somewhere in the Star Wars universe.

May the Fourth be with you.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, it’s time to celebrate Star Wars Day in style. Of course, that means with a lavish dinner prepared by the Darth Vader in your family. What? You don’t have a five-year-old daughter who has continually told you since she could talk that Darth Vader is her friend and routinely fights on the Dark Side?

Never mind…moving on…

While you’ll find many places sharing what you can eat tonight—and we’ve even provided a list of recipes ourselves—how about playing a game of “if you were a Star Wars character?” What would you eat if you lived in the Star Wars universe?

#10. Frogs

Jaha has a love for frogs. Well, they look like frogs and they sit in a fishbowl beside him. We shouldn’t really think anything different for a creature that is happy to feed slaves and prisoners to the Rancor.

Oh, and this isn’t like eating frog’s legs. He eats live frogs!

#9. Bantha milk

When you need a balanced breakfast on Tatooine, you’ll want to grab some bantha milk. You may know it better as blue milk. Now, this is something you can make yourself, although you’ll probably find a way to make it taste better than it sounds.

#8. Live snake

When you need to go through Jedi training, you’ll need to follow Yoda’s diet of live snakes and wild mushrooms. There is no negotiating on this otherwise a Jedi you will not make.

#7. Rootleaf stew

It’s hard to make out all the food in Luke’s lunch box of treats, but it’s not hard to figure out the stew that Yoda gives him. This is rootleaf stew and it’s much better when hot. Fun fact: when Luke eats the stew, he’s clearly disgusted by it, but that wasn’t supposed to happen. Luke was meant to realize that actually, it didn’t taste that bad.

#6. Pears

Okay, so the prequels aren’t great, but they do tell us one thing. Royalty will get some normal ingredients. In this case, Padame and Anakin Skywalker eat pears. Oh, and if you want to be a royal, you’ll need to eat it with a knife and fork, even if it’s been sliced by the force.

#5. Blue Curacao

When you go into one of the bars, you won’t want to make a fool of yourself. Prevent that by ordering blue Curacao, which is what you’ll see Obi-won ordering. He gets offered a side of death sticks too, but we suggest avoiding them.

#4. Polystarch bread

Hopefully, you don’t have a gluten intolerance. If you do, then Rey’s dinner isn’t going to be that appealing to you. For those who love bread, you’ll be fine with polystarch bread.

#3. Apple and romanesco broccoli

Not all fruits are normal when it comes to Star Wars. Rey loves to snack and one of her choices is a strange type of apple. It has romanesco broccoli on the top. Not the weirdest items on the menu but I’d stick with the pears.

#2. Blackberry pie

This might be perfect for Supernatural’s Dean Winchester rather than something Star Wars, but it’s there in the movies. It turns out that most of the humans do actually eat human food! Yes, really.

#1. Dead monkeys

If you’re a wookie, you’ll be happy to eat anything you come across. Chewy opts for dead monkey at one point. Well, he would if he didn’t set off a trap that captured him and his fellow travelers in a net.
