May 24 is National Escargot Day. Celebrate in style by trying out one of these 3 escargot recipes that I am sure will blow your mind!
The first question you might have about National Escargot Day is, what the heck is an escargot? That is certainly the question I had anyway when I sat down to work on this article. Well, escargot is edible snails.
Usually acting as a starter dish, it is routinely associated with France, Spain, and Portugal. It is also associated with Catalonia, Morrocco, and Algeria but they are well less known.

I’ve taken a look around the web and come across 3 recipes that I think will be perfect for National Escargot Day, and, most importantly blow your mind, or more specifically, your taste buds.
1: Escargots A La Bourguignonne by Epicurious
A garlicky sauce to accompany the escargots. This recipes by Epicurious produce a tender escargot with a woodsy flavor. It takes only 30 minutes to make and will serve up to four people. Every ingredient can be found at your local grocery store. The only ingredient you might have trouble with are the escargot’s themselves.
2: French Escargot-Stuffed Mushrooms by The Spruce Eats
Another great recipe for you to try, especially if you love mushrooms. A traditional recipe from the Burgundy region of France it will only take you 25 minutes to make this recipe and instead of feeding four, this one feeds six.
3: Escargot by Tastaholics
Usually, escargots are removed from their shells, stuffed, then put back in. This recipe by Tastaholics throws the usually completely out of the window. Completely reinventing how you eat snails, they remove the shells and bake the snails with butter, parsley, mushrooms and melted mozzarella in ramekins. An excellent combination and twist to the traditional dish that sends your taste buds to a level you didn’t know existed.
