McDonald's, Fast Food
NEW YORK, NY – DECEMBER 10: People walk past a McDonald’s restaurant in Times Square on December 10, 2012 in New York City. In a surprise to Wall Street, the U.S. fast food establishment reported U.S. same store sales up 2.5 percent for November. Sales rose 0.6 percent in the chain’s Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa division, while in Europe, same store sales grew 1.4 percent. (Photo by Spencer Platt/Getty Images) /

12. The Holiday Pie – McDonald’s

If Apple and Cherry pies weren’t enough, Mickey D’s fans will now get a taste of a yearly tradition — The Holiday Pie.

Instead of the traditional filling of their baked pies, the Holiday Pie is filled with vanilla custard and topped with sugar and rainbow sprinkles. If the holidays were transferred to a desert, then the Holiday Pie would be it, for better and, for some, worst.

Personally, I’ve never been a fan of the Holiday Pie, as I feel the Apple Pie serves the purpose equally during the holiday season; but, it does have its fans, and I’m not going to stop you from enjoying a McDonald’s tradition. The Holiday Pie is only available during the holidays (obviously), so if this is your ticket to pie heaven for the season, then, by all means, have it.

There’s something that disturbs me about the Holiday Pie that I just can’t untangle myself from. It’s sweet, really sweet. It’s so sweet that it will give your great, great grandkids cavities. Maybe that’s the true beauty of the Holiday Pie, I don’t know. For me, at least, it’s too sweet, which is why I’ll stick with the trusty apple pie. For those who want to try it, it will be there for your sweet tooth pleasure.

You only live once, so take a bite out of a McDonald’s tradition. Believe me, it is a tradition.
