9. Mike’s City Diner — Boston, MA

Boston is a food town, and there is a number of great options for every appetite, but nothing stands in the way between Bostonians and their diners.

In every corner of this city, you can find a great diner that serves up the resolution-busting goods, and chief among those institutions is Mike’s City Diner. It’s the top-rated diner on Yelp, with an average of four stars; and many consider this homey diner in the South End a treasure.

One thing you’ll find at this diner is that awesome, thick “Bahston” accent, and it goes perfectly with the atmosphere at Mike’s. A greasy spoon at its heart, Mike’s doesn’t give way to the gentrification definition of the institution. This is a no-frills place that takes its food very seriously. The breakfast at Mike’s is clearly the star here, with many reviewers taking their praise to the french toast and corn beef hash.

Their breakfasts are so popular that many famous folks have eaten here during a trip to Boston, from food celebrity Guy Fiori to former president Bill Clinton! But, don’t let the famous vibe of Mike’s make you believe that the prices here out of reach for regular “Bahstonians.” This is a greasy spoon, meaning that you will eat well for a fraction of a McDonald’s meal.
