17. Dad’s Diner — Seattle, WA

When you speak of Seattle, the term “greasy spoon” doesn’t really come up often. In fact, it doesn’t really come up at all.

Seattle is more known for their seafood, but greasy spoons do exist in the Pacific Northwest, and one of the best spots to grab some good comfort food, one that will wreck that New Year’s Resolution, is Dad’s Diner.

Located in the Eastlake neighborhood, Dad’s Diner is a local go-to spot for many Seattle residents who want some Americana foods. Dad’s Diner is your traditional diner, serving up hearty breakfasts, and traditional lunches and dinners; but there are some non-traditional dishes that one will be surprised to find at a spot like Dad’s.

Take, for instance, the fried rice, which some Yelp users say is better than Chinese takeout. Some combine the fried rice with ham and Kale Caesar, which creates a nice mix of healthy and comfort that many diners don’t really bother to balance out.

Also on the menu at Dad’s is the pulled pork. No, it isn’t like pulled pork of the south, but for Seattle, many say it’s pretty good pulled pork. Dad’s Diner regularly has great reviews on Yelp, with an average of four-stars on 54 reviews. Granted, there are some that didn’t like their experience, but that’s the gist of a greasy spoon, right?
