17. Yard House

Yard House has become one of those chains that have truly snuck up on some people.

Mention this restaurant in some parts of America, and you may get a blank stare. On other parts where Yard House has panted its roots, and you’ll get the exact opposite — one of “I can’t believe you haven’t heard of this place!”

That kind of response, and it’s justified.

Yard House is an adult hangout spot with good food and good drinks, and the atmosphere has a mix of fun and romantic, perfect to take a date on Valentine’s Day. Before Darden Restaurants took it over, Yard House was almost an exclusive West Coast chain.

In fact, it was founded in Long Beach, California in 1996, and the concept took off in Cali. When Darden brought the restaurant into its portfolio, it knew what it had and decided to grow the chain. Today, Yard House is not exclusive to the West Coast anymore, as couples from other states can experience the cool atmosphere that Yard House provides.

It’s their combination of food, drinks, and chill that makes the Yard House so great for Valentine’s Day, though it may not seem that way on the surface. Then again, not everything on the surface is what it seems, and Yard House fits that bill, perfectly.

So, if you’re near a Yard House and want to do something different for Valentine’s Day, take a flier on this restaurant. You and your loved one will be happy that you did.
