9. Texas de Brazil

When this restaurant opened in suburban Dallas in 1998, the founders knew that they had hit gold.

For those not in the loop, Texas de Brazil is a chain of Brazilian steakhouses (more famously known as “churrascarias”) that charges you and both arms, both legs, and your pets to have some of the best steak and other meats around. Texas de Brazil is centered on the experience, as, for instance, their San Antonio location has one of the tallest wine displays I have ever seen, complete with a worker, flying on a rope, grabbing the bottles off of the shelves.

If that doesn’t make for a great Valentine’s Day experience, then we don’t know what does, to be honest.

In some respects, it’s fitting that Texas and Brazil would be joined at the hip to create this smash hit chain, mostly because both of these places know their meats, and if you’ve been to a Brazilian steakhouse, you know exactly what I mean.

Texas de Brazil has grown from being a single outlet in the “Restaurant Row” of suburban Dallas to a 50-plus strong chain with outlets all over the world and has even produced some copycats, but none can really compare to what Texas de Brazil has crafted, and they have created something unique and special with the restaurants.

You don’t go to Texas de Brazil just to eat. You go there for the experience, and experience that is truly first class.

And, if you’re wondering if Texas de Brazil has a location in Brazil, the answer is yes.
