3. First Watch

While nighttime is certainly a great time to woo your love on Valentine’s Day, sometimes love comes in the morning time, and for that, make sure you take them for a nice brunch at First Watch.

This growing breakfast/brunch chain is famous for their healthy breakfasts and brunchtime drinks. While families are encouraged to come here, First Watch can also be a great place for a Valentine’s Day brunch, given that you both have the time off.

Believe it or not, First Watch is yet another California invention.

In 1983, Ken Pendery and John Sullivan left another popular breakfast chain, Le Peep in Colorado, and moved to Pacific Grove, California, where they started the first ever First Watch. Given the success of Le Peep, the partners-in-breakfast-crime knew that brunch was a successful market, and in 1986, they moved their operations to Bradenton, Florida, just south of Tampa.

First Watch grew slowly, but by the 2010s, the chain began to really grow, and now, it is one of the largest breakfast/brunch only chains in the nation. These days, restaurants like First Watch are everywhere in different variations, whether it’s Egg and I out west, or some mom-and-pop breakfast shops that can rival that of First Watch.

This chain, though, remains the gold standard when it comes to the breakfast crowd, especially with its atmosphere and there are more First Watch restaurants opening up by the day, so one will surely be in your neighborhood very, very soon.

If not, my condolences.
