1. Do-Rite Donuts

Do-Rite donuts have been serving up quality for the past few years now. With five locations located all throughout the city, the brand is increasingly growing in popularity, and rightfully so.

While a mid-level franchise such as Do-Rite is bound to be a bit more expensive than your average chain, the quality that you receive in return exceeds the value of the money you’ll spend. The donuts are made fresh daily, and as customers keep rolling in to buy them, the donuts keep on coming; so you never have to worry about them running out and/or closing early, which is custom for some of the “Mom and Pop” shops.

My donut of choice is always a buttermilk old-fashioned, so whenever I walk into a new shop, it’s the first thing I look for. I can say with confidence that Do-Rite definitely has their old-fashioned recipe down to a tee, and it is easily the best donut they have to offer. Much like their name suggests, they just do it right.

Oh, and if their donuts weren’t enough, their location in the West Loop offers Donut Chicken sandwiches. That’s right, it’s exactly what it sounds like. They simply take a glazed donut, slice it down the middle, insert a piece of fried chicken (your choice of spicy or mild) and lather it in a spicy maple aioli to create one of the best sweet/savory sandwiches you’ll ever try.
