MARATHON, FL – SEPTEMBER 19: (FOR EDITORIAL USE ONLY) In this handout photo provided by the Florida Keys News Bureau, traffic rolls on the Seven Mile Bridge on September 19, 2017 in Marathon, Florida. Early Tuesday, Florida Keys law enforcement officials discontinued a checkpoint near the top of the Florida Keys Overseas Highway after Hurricane Irma impacted the Keys Sept. 10. While residents and recovery works are able to traverse the entire 128-mile-long Florida Keys Overseas Highway from Key Largo to Key West, visitors continue being asked to postpone their near-term vacations plans. 5. The Buzzard’s Roost — Key Largo
Getting to The Buzard’s Roost (21 Garden Cove Dr., 305-453-3746) is a challenging affair, but trust when I say, it’s worth the challenge to experience one of the best burger restaurants in the Florida Keys.
Set in a beautifully restored house, with a picture-perfect view of the Garden Cove in its back yard, having a burger at The Buzzard’s Roost is a treat that no visitor nor local should do without. Speaking of the burgers, The Buzzard’s Roost is home to the Black Angus Burger, which is one-half pound of Black Angus Beef, char-grilled. The burger itself is juicy and full of flavor, but that’s only half the fun.
You can have the Black Angus Burger two ways — either build your own, or, have it Buzzard Style, which carries Cheddar cheese, avocado, and three strips of bacon, all combined to give you the perfect burger to enjoy the Keys’ lifestyle.
Make sure you grab a table overlooking Garden Cove and take a dive into the Black Angus Burger.
Let’s continue south on U.S. 1 to beautiful Islamorada!
