Our next stop on the Keys best burger restaurants tour is not located in a pretty, restored house overlooking one of the Keys’ serene waterways.
Instead, MEAT Eatery and Taproom (88005 Overseas Hwy., 305-852-3833) can be found in a strip plaza, but don’t let the outside of the plaza fool you, no, no! Behind those doors, MEAT Eatery and Taproom is one of the more popular places to grab a burger in Islamorada.
The atmosphere is chill, and it’s the type of place where you can walk in as a stranger, and come out with a bunch of new friends. That’s what the food and beer will do at MEAT Eatery and Taproom, especially if you order one of their delicious burgers, which, in 2014 and ’15, was voted the Best in Florida!
One of MEAT’s best sellers is the Inside-Out Juicy Lucy Burger, the burger that got MEAT it’s “Best In Florida” distinction. This whale of a burger is stuffed with pimento cheese and bacon, topped with American cheese, tomato, and lettuce. MEAT has other spectacular burgers on the menu, and make sure you wash it down with a cold beer.
