5. Burg’r Bar — Punta Gorda
Right in the heart of Punta Gorda, sits one of the best burger restaurants in Southwest Florida.
I’m talking about, of course, Burg’r Bar.
No, that’s not a typo, that’s how the restaurant actually spells its name, which is a cool way to style it. Once you enter the Burg’r Bar (317 Tamiami Tr., 941-655-8050), you’ll find a chill atmosphere that fits this slice of Florida perfectly. Once you and your friends soak up the atmosphere, it’s time to get acquainted with the burgers, and you have a number of tasty choices to choose from.
For starters, you can actually create your burger here, and you’ll have your choice of meat from the regular 6-8 ounce beef, to Bison or Grass Fed beef. Oh, and for the vegetarians, don’t worry, as you can create your own burger using either ground turkey, a garden patty, or portabella mushroom.
For the bun, you’ll have five different styles to choose from (I recommend the Brioche as it really brings in the flavor of the burger), and you’ll also have a bountiful amount of choices when it comes to cheeses (my personal favorite is the pepper jack). Then, it’s time to add the toppings, and, oh man, you’ll be in topping heaven as soon as you see the list.
Burg’r Bar also has a set of house burgers if you’re not sure about how to make your own burger, and those burgers are worth a try, as well!
Now it’s time to head south down Interstate 75 and visit the epicenter of Southwest Florida, Ft. Myers.
