Oreo might be giving us a cookie with a marshmallow moon that has historic significance

Oreo likes to stay busy when it comes to giving their fans what they want. From colorful cremes to new flavors, the cookie company is always ready with something new. And this includes a Marshmallow Moon cookie.

According to Delish, it looks like Oreo is going big in honor of the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. We are talking a new cookie flavor, packaging that glows in the dark, and even the Oreo logo coming off the cookie and a rocket or a moon replacing it.

Originally spotted on Instagram, it seems there is a post making the rounds indicating there will be a very limited edition cookie celebrating that historical moment. And the Marshmallow Moon cookie is exactly that, an Oreo cookie filled with marshmallow creme and a cookie inspired by the moon.

The reason we are not being definitive about this historical cookie is the fact we have conflicting reports about what the cookie and its packaging will look like. In one mock-up of the cookies, we see a purple tinted creme in a cookie that features a moon and three stars. The second mock-up shows a little rocket ship on the cookie with a white creme center.

In both cases, it is said the packaging will glow in the dark and the creme filling will be a marshmallow flavor. And that means there is a strong likelihood that one of these cookie designs is accurate, but which one is anyone’s guess.

Considering the moon landing took place on July 20, 1969, we would not be surprised if a number of companies decided to honor the 50th anniversary of the Apollo mission. That being said, our hope is that this limited edition Oreo is the first major release; because we are all about indulging in creamy marshmallow inside a chocolate cookie.

Not only is this cookie historical in nature, which we love, but the fact it is a new flavor with a fun print on the chocolate cookie makes it a must snag option when these hit stores (and we totally believe they will be hitting shelves soon).

The only questions we have are when is this happening? What color will the creme inside the cookie be? And which print will they decide on for the outside of the cookie? After all, a purple creme sounds fun, and we wouldn’t mind seeing both rockets and moons on our Marshmallow Moon Oreo.
