Donuts
Another delightful Tony Stark moment that is as memorable as it is hilarious concerns food (but, of course!). In Iron Man 2, Tony finds himself in a pickle—his arc reactor, the very thing that is keeping him alive, is also killing him. After handing his company over to Pepper Potts and losing his prototype suit to his friend Col. James Rhodes, Tony decides to take a break from the despondency of his life by eating some donuts, while sitting in a giant donut. Because when Tony Stark needs to mope, he does it Tony Stark-style!
The bakery that made Iron Man’s favorite donuts, Randy’s Donuts, has appeared in several films, but that wasn’t why Iron Man 2 director Jon Favreau wanted to film there. According to Favreau, he chose the location because of its quintessential Los Angeles vibe.
Randy’s Donuts is a popular bakery near LAX, so it isn’t surprising that the place would be on Tony’s radar. And the owner of Randy’s Donuts, Randy Eskow, was thrilled by the idea, even asking if Favreau could have Iron Man fly through the donut instead. That isn’t how the scene worked out, but it is certainly memorable nonetheless!
Most of us won’t be able to make it all the way to LA to Randy’s Donuts, but I’m sure Tony Stark wouldn’t mind a send-off with whatever donut we have close at hand.
