With Disney’s The Lion King in theaters, it’s the perfect time to go over some of our favorite African restaurants!

The live action Lion King is in theaters! Make this weekend a whole theme. Thanks to Yelp, we came up with the 10 best African restaurants that you should try when the film is over! Disney’s The Lion King is promising to be one of the best movie events of 2019.

One of the beautiful aspects of The Lion King is its depiction of African culture, and moviegoers learning of the beauty of this dynamic culture. That extends to food, and inspired by the Lion King‘s opening weekend, we took to Yelp! to countdown the 10 best African restaurants in the country that you should check out!

10. Aduke African Cuisine — Los Angeles, CA

There’s no shortage of amazingly delicious food in California, but this one stands out. Sitting on diverse Pico Boulevard, Aduke African cuisine offers a canopy of African flavors that will satisfy any taste bud. Make sure you try their Jollof Rice combo, which comes with bean pudding, plantain, and Egusi soup. It’s oh-so-good!

9. Akwaaba — New York, NY

New York is the home of many of the world’s cuisines, and there are a ton of African restaurants that one should try. Out of several, Akwaaba seems to be the most popular, so we need to check it out ourselves!

Make sure Akwaaba is one of those restaurants you visit the next time you are in New York (or if you live in the area, check it out!), while low on frills it makes up for in some of the best Ghanaian food in the City.
