Collaborations between food companies happen all the time. And one is about to give you the chocolate porter of your dreams: Yuengling and Hershey’s!
It was less than a month ago when Pizza Hut and Cheez-It decided they were changing the Pizza game. However, there are some collaborations that when they’re announced, people stop, look around and praise the lord for the genius.
That’s what happened this past Tuesday when the nation’s oldest brewery, Yuengling, and the country’s most iconic chocolate company, Hershey’s, announced they were teaming up on a Chocolate Porter.
It’s honestly crazy to think that Yuengling has existed for close to 190 years and Hershey’s has been in establishment for over 125, yet it took us until the year 2019 to finally get a collab between these two iconic Pennsylvania companies. Well better late than never, and to quote Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, “They’re teaming up and giving it back to you, the people!”
For anyone who’s had the opportunity to drink a porter, you know that one of the best flavor profiles for the dark style of beer is chocolate, which is why it makes perfect sense to use the creamy, dark and flavorful taste of Hershey’s chocolate in the brewing process.
According to Yuengling, the beer will be 4.7% ABV, is 180 calories per drink, and pairs great with chocolate (I assume for the crowd who will be bringing candy or cake to their local pub), BBQ, and Cheese.
Now here’s the catch, and unfortunately there is a catch. The collaboration will only be available from the middle of October until the end of February, will only be served as a draft, and there’s a very good chance that it might not even be available where you are.
Yuengling’s website says that “the Hershey’s Chocolate Porter will be available on premise only, at bars, restaurants and more”, and that the beer can be found in states such as “Pennsylvania, Ohio, Massachusetts, West Virginia, New York, Virginia, and New Jersey” among others.
To find a full list of locations where the Hershey’s Chocolate Porter will be served, go to Yuengling’s beer locator. Happy hunting!
