The Barefoot Contessa, Ina Garten, will be sharing her culinary journey in an upcoming memoir.
Well-known celebrity chef, cookery book author, and Food Network star, Ina Garten, also known as the Barefoot Contessa, is set to pen a memoir. The as-yet unnamed memoir will be published by Celadon Books some time in 2023.
That sounds like a long wait for fans but it could be a sign that Garten is going to be writing a hefty tomb that encompasses her entire life—from her early financial career to her culinary successes.
In a press release issued about the memoir, Garten said: “By finding a way to do what I love for a living–cooking–I’ve been fortunate to build a career that has not only been incredibly rewarding but has brought people together through the power of home cooking… I hope my book will inspire readers to find their own unique story.”
Garten was inspired by her culinary idol, Julia Child, to enter the world of food. In the 1970s, while still working in finance, she purchased a store called The Barefoot Contessa, a name she would eventually become synonymous with for households everywhere.

She then left her job in finance to become a self-taught cook and landed a spot on Food Network in 2002.
Like so many chefs before her, Garten is no stranger to writing. She authored her first cookbook, The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook in 1999, and has since gone on to write 10 more books, including bestsellers Barefoot Contessa Parties! and Barefoot in Paris.
And she is still planning to write more cookbooks, with two more slated for 2020 and 2023. This memoir will be her first non-cookbook.
You can catch The Barefoot Contessa on Food Network USA, Canada, and UK.
