Friday favorite: Take your taste buds on a regional tour of India with Deep Indian Kitchen
By Sandy C.
What’s for dinner this weekend? Deep Indian Kitchen is waiting for you to take your taste buds on a flavorful trip and is this week’s Friday Favorite edition.
When it comes to the frozen food aisle, you may believe you’ve seen it all, and we wouldn’t blame you! What comes to mind when you think about frozen foods? For me, it’s hot dogs, pancakes, waffles, burritos, pizza. You know, the usual. But Deep Indian Kitchen, a New Jersey-based brand, is here to change that by spicing things up (both literally and figuratively) with some delicious plates.
While you can go to your favorite restaurant to sample foods from all over the world, these are busy times. Not to mention, our budget may not always be up for it. Deep Indian Kitchen offers consumers the best flavors of India at an affordable and convenient price. Because it doesn’t always have to be pizza for dinner.
No need to look up recipes, find all the necessary spices and spend time cooking (or trying to, let’s be honest) when you can return from work with the family and unwind. Deep Indian Kitchen has done it all for you!
Earlier this month, I received a few samples from the brand and had such a delicious time sampling everything over the next several days. I rank the boxes I received and go into detail about the preparation and flavors, below:
Chicken Tikka Masala: It’s important to note that Deep Indian Kitchen claims their foods are all made from scratch, and honestly, it truly does show in their flavors. The Chicken Tikka Masala is my favorite from the three and I was very surprised. I thought a more simple dish would win me over, but it’s this entrée that did it for me. The chicken is very juicy and you can taste the spices and cream in the sauce. But don’t worry, it isn’t too spicy at all. I will definitely be looking for this one at the store next time I go get some groceries.
Potato & Pea Samosas with Tamarind Chutney: Next up we have the Potato & Pea Samosas! A close second to becoming my favorite. This is a very filling appetizer that also works as a light meal (that’s what I did). It’s a simple treat, but it’s all in the careful preparation. (This one might be a tad too spicy for children.)
Garlic Naan: Finally, there’s the Garlic Naan, the perfect side dish to accompany your favorite Indian meal. The flavor and garlic scent is not overpowering, which is something I’m always picky about. Even my picky eaters at home gave this a try and loved it!
Interested in giving these a try? It’ll shake things up in the kitchen. Why go out when you can have a tasty meal at home? You may order online here or find them in store (some have been spotted at Kroger and Whole Foods Market).
