David Chang Touring the World to Discover ‘Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner’
By Louis Skye
Chef and restaurateur David Chang is set to headline the new Netflix show, Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
David Chang, founder of Momofuku, and creator of Netflix’s Ugly, Delicious, is set to headline another show on the streaming platform—Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner which is a four-episode mini-series to be released on Netflix on October 23, 2019.
As reported by Food and Wine News, the show will see Chang travelling the world to discover culinary delights alongside four celebrity guests.
These guests include Seth Rogen, with whom Chang will enjoy dim sums and donuts in Vancouver.
He will then travel to Marrakech, Morocco with Chrissy Teigen to enjoy a lunch at a family’s home and take in some of the sights and sounds of the historic city.
In Los Angeles, Chang will team up with Lena Waithe, to check out Waithe’s favourite breakfast spot and nail spa.
And finally, Chang will be heading to Cambodia with Kate McKinnon to eat a host of noodles and tropical fruit.
Check out the trailer here:
Chang has shown a proclivity for looking at food from different angles—his show Ugly, Delicious also saw him teaming up with celebrities from the culinary sphere and beyond to discuss food and its impact on people.
But it isn’t only Chang’s celebrity friends that add unique perspectives to his shows—through the lens of his own Asian-American heritage, he brings a completely different understanding of food and its place in culture.
If Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner is anywhere in the same vein of Ugly, Delicious—and the trailer seems to suggest it may be—we should expect to see plenty of laughs and hopefully an insightful reading of what food means to different people and in different cultures.
It is good to see that Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner has a diverse cast of characters but one does wonder why the show has partnered Chang with only people from the film industry.
It will be interesting to see what perspective these actors will bring to the food they eat and share with Chang. They do have the opportunity to see the world in a unique, but sometimes privileged, light. Will that colour how they enjoy the food and critique their experiences for the audience?
To find out what these actors and Chang discover about the breakfast, lunch & dinner they eat around the world, viewers will have to tune in to Netflix.
Catch Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner on Netflix from October 23, 2019.
