While homemade Christmas cookies are great, we don’t all have the time to make them. Luckily, there are some great store-bought cookies out there.

Cookies are as much a part of Christmas as Santa and his reindeer. And everyone has a favorite from sugar to chocolate chip to gingerbread. But when you don’t want to make your own Christmas cookies, store-bought can be a great option. The question is: which ones are the best?

Fox59 asked the same question and came up with ten different cookies they thought were they best. But, let’s just say…their choices are terrible. Pillsbury Ready to Bake sugar cookies? Are you kidding me? If you’ve ever tried one of these cookies, you know they are meh at best. Sure, they look cool with a tree, Santa, or reindeer in the middle, but the taste leaves much to be desired.

They also list Lofthouse frosted sugar cookies as the second best cookie. These aren’t the worst cookies ever, but they certainly aren’t the best. If you’re looking for a soft, cake-y cookie, try Cheryl’s instead. They taste a lot less…gluey.

Luckily, they got number one right. Oreos are the perfect cookie whether it’s the holidays or not. Crispy chocolate cookies with sweet creamy frosting in the middle? You can’t go wrong! Most of the flavored Oreos are pretty good too.

To substitute for the less than stellar options on the Fox59 list, here are a few other options that are much better (in my opinion). They include Milanos in their list, but any of the Pepperidge Farm cookies will do. They have a whole assortment of Christmas cookies that are very good too.

Stauffer’s also has bags of holiday shortbread cookies with red and green sugar on top that are really good as our their gingerbread cookies. They could easily pass as homemade. Don’t let the bag fool you. They taste great.
