Part 3 of the Major League Eating Quarantine Challenge has happened. This time, baked beans. How did everyone fair out? Let’s talk about it.

The Major League of Eating isn’t disappointing with content that they continue to pour out, despite everyone being stuck at home. They decided to do a contest that started with eight competitive eaters doing an eating contest all starting with two pounds of bologna, then moving on to part two that consisted of forty-eight Oreo cookies and a half gallon of milk.

If you missed out on Round One (bologna), you may view it here.

If you missed out on Round Two (Oreo cookies and milk), you may view it here.

What was on yesterday’s menu? Ten pounds of baked beans. WOW. Let’s talk about it.

This live YouTube event began at 6pm (CST), the same as always, and had a more savory item on the menu: baked beans. Not just your average portion or can of baked beans, but ten pounds of them. Watch the exciting event here: Part 3 (Baked Beans)!

Like all the rounds before this one, Part 3 had some rules:

  • Each competitor had to eat 10 pounds of the baked beans
  • Each competitor had to empty each can into a clear bowl and clear the bowls out as best as possible at the end of the eating
  • The first competitor finished eating wins the match up
  • There are outside beverages allowed
  • Time penalties will be awarded for spillage and messes

The eating began with the first match up of the night: Gideon Oji vs. Darron Breeden. Oji competed standing up, while Breeden competed sitting down. Each of the first two competitors had their own skills, speed, and techniques, but ultimately, Oji became the first competitive eater to make it into the final round, which happens tomorrow night. Very well done performance by Breeden though, is not to be forgotten here.

Then the second and final matchup of the night was: Joey Chestnut vs. Nick Wehry. Upon watching the two competitively eat, it was clear right away who would be the clear-cut winner: Joey Chestnut (which he did ultimately win this round). Wehry’s spoon was too small, and Chestnut’s speed and agility was just unmatchable.

Coming up in the fourth and final part to this exciting competition, we will get to see Gideon Oji and Joey Chestnut in a head-to-head eating competition, where the two will tackle 10 individual chicken noodle cups (similar to ramen noodles).

Let’s see which competitive eater will hold the title of the quarantine challenge winner, and which will receive a nice pat on the back and an “A” for effort.
