Everyone seems to have an issue with Dasani water and Guilty Eats demands to know why. Let’s break down where the hate is coming from.

I have long heard about how Dasani water is the black sheep in the family of water brands, but I never paid much attention. Did I continue to buy Dasani water? I’ll be honest, not really. I enjoy making cucumber water, so any brand will do for me. But I do also always keep LIFEWTR and Smartwater around for my go-to and around the house needs.

So though I have been unconsciously ignoring Dasani water, there’s nothing like a pandemic to make you realize just how much people dislike this brand!

I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that, whenever we make a trip to the grocery store, Dasani is the only brand that’s in stock. If you didn’t personally notice this, you surely bumped into memes online about it. Even Saturday Night Live made a sketch about Dasani. Our question is, why?

If I’m being honest, Dasani water tastes the same to me as Aquafina, Crystal Clear or any other water brand around the same price range. Are my taste buds betraying me or is everyone just hating Dasani just to hate?

As I’ve already stated, I’ve never done a taste-test, so I could be missing something. After doing some research, there’s a reason why Dasani has a bad rep.

As it turns out the Coca-Cola company (which owns Dasani) had to disclose that Dasani water is “essentially just municipal tap water,” Distractify shares. This tap water is factory filtered and then enhanced with a formula of minerals. I can see how this may turn people away, but Dasani isn’t the only water brand that does this. In fact, most do.

Shane Dawson made a conspiracy video about Dasani water and how bad it is for you. With how large Dawson’s following is (the video currently has over 12 million views), this certainly didn’t help the brand.
