Hot Tamales

One of the most well-known and popular hot and spicy candies out there is Hot Tamales. They might look like innocent, and sweet and sour little Mike & Ike’s, however, they’re far from that. Sure, they’ve got the same shape and texture, but if you bite into one thinking it’s a cherry Mike & Ike, you’ll surely be surprised when you taste a hot cinnamon flavor, that’s for darn sure!

I feel like if you like the texture and general shape to a Mike & Ike candy, and you like the strong flavor of cinnamon, similar to any cinnamon-mint or cinnamon flavor-based gum, then you’ll probably like these Hot Tamales. These might even be a new favorite of your own there as well!

Personally, I never tried Hot Tamales until I was somewhere in early grade school. It used to be one of my Dad’s favorite candies to eat, and they’d always be in our candy bowl on Halloween every year. Given that I love cinnamon gum and other things like that, Hot Tamales are definitely just a step spicier that the average cinnamon-mint or gum, and I like it that.

If you don’t like chewing gum, but want cinnamon fresh breath, give Hot Tamales a try for sure! These can be considered as good “beginner” spicy candies.
