10 new-ish, food-related books worth checking out
Diamond Dallas Page’s Positively Unstoppable: The Art Of Owning It
I have had the pleasure of interviewing Diamond Dallas Page numerous times — including a recent Positively Snacking column for Guilty Eats — and few people are as motivational as the wrestler turned author, entrepreneur and fitness icon. DDP’s latest book “The Art Of Owning It” aims to give you the tools needed to get your mind and attitude in shape for good.
Filled with anecdotes about how personal shortcomings would lead to his long-term successes, the DDPY founder also opens up about smart food choices and why he has gone gluten-free and GMO-free. As discussed within “Positively Unstoppable,” his DDP YOGA NOW app is full of healthy yet delicious recipes.
Jillian Harris & Tori Wesszer’s Fraiche Food, Full Hearts
Subtitled “A Collection of Recipes for Every Day and Casual Celebrations,” cousins and authors Jillian Harris (a Bachelor/Bachelorette alum) and Tori Wesszer (a registered dietitian) had a love of cooking instilled in them early on by their grandmother. “Fraiche Food, Full Hearts” includes over 100 recipes, including soups, salads, sides, desserts and breakfast offerings.
Aiming to cater towards diners of all preferences, these 100+ recipes do include gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian offerings. It also includes full-color, sharp-looking photography.
Derek Sandhaus’ Drunk In China
Carrying the unique subtitle of “Baijiu & The World’s Oldest Drinking Culture,” Drunk In China was the winner of the spirits-oriented 2020 Gourmand Award. The book finds its author traveling around China — which historians believed to feature the world’s oldest alcohol-oriented culture — from the hidden to the high-end. Simply put, it makes for a great followup to Sandhaus’ 2014 book “Baijiu: The Essential Guide To Chinese Spirits.”
