Necco Wafers are back after a two-year hiatus

Necco Wafers have officially come out of hiatus and are ready to grace us with their delicious presence again

Yes, you heard me right! Necco Wafers from Spangler Candy have officially come out of their two-year-long hiatus to grace us with their presence once again. They are back on store shelves and I couldn’t be more excited about it.

People might be wondering what’s going to be new about them because they’ve been gone for so long. Well, lucky for us who love vintage packaging and the actual candies itself, the recipe and wrappers will remain the same OG that they have been since the beginning of time for Necco Wafers!

We hope Necco Wafers, which disappeared in 2018, are here to stay

Here’s a little bit about what Spangler Candy had to say about the packaging in their announcement: “We kept the wax wrap around the roll exactly the same and used the same supplier and everything,” Spangler Candy CEO Kirk Vashaw told TODAY in an exclusive interview.”

In case you’ve been living under a rock with Patrick Star and don’t know what Necco Wafers are or what flavors they come in, we’ve got your back!

Here are the 8 flavors and corresponding colors that remain the same in 2020:

• Chocolate (Brown)
• Cinnamon (White)
• Clove (Light Purple)
• Lemon (Yellow)
• Licorice (Dark Grey/Black)
• Lime (Green)
• Orange (Orange)
• Wintergreen (Pink)

Necco also admitted that the flavors were identical as best as possible to try and match the originals. However, if someone really knew their Necco Wafers, then they may be able to detect slight difference in the flavors.

If you see Necco Wafers at a store near you, give them a shot! Who knew that such a simple candy could taste so good, am I right? I mean, a sleeve of these bad boys never lasts too long in my house whenever we do have them!
