This weekend, we took sparkling tequila Onda on a taste drive!

Healthy and better-for-you beverages of all sorts are slowly taking over, and it’s about time! That’s right, even tequila is getting a makeover and it has for some time, we just haven’t been paying attention. But leave it to Onda, a new sparkling tequila, to make its presence known.

Onda recently launched and it is making a bold statement. It’s refreshing, light, and made with real fruit juice. It’s also easy to want to support Onda, as it has brilliant women working behind-the-scenes.

Just last week, we received a sample pack of both flavors, Lime and Grapefruit. My tastebuds immediately gravitated towards the Lime cans! Tequila and lime are an iconic pair. However, I was surprised by the daring Grapefruit.

Read on for my thoughts, more facts about the sparkling tequila, and if it’s worth the hype!

All about Onda, the new sparkling tequila

Canned cocktails are quickly rising in sales, and it’s easy to see why. But this doesn’t mean they all taste the same. In fact, some may do you harm. Not all drinks make their ingredients clear or cheap out with the most affordable tequila they can find, but not Onda.

Co-founded by Kelli Adams, Shay Mitchell, Noah Gray, and Max Dworin, Onda uses high-quality ingredients, beginning with premium tequila from a distillery in Jalisco, Mexico, which is run and owned by women.

Real juice is also added, and each can only contains 100 calories, is gluten-free, has zero sugar and carbs. As for the amount of alcohol, there’s 5% ABV.

How does Onda taste?

If you already enjoy sparkling tequila or tequila with club soda, you’ll love this one! While sparkling tequila, in general, is not my go-to drink, I did appreciate Onda. I sampled Lime first, but the lime isn’t as strong as you would think and it tastes like sparkling water more than anything else.

Onda Grapefruit, however, is the flavor I didn’t believe I’d love as much as I did! It’s very bold and truly tastes like the real juice that it is! Very natural, refreshing, and tasty. With a 5% ABV, it’s easy to drink either flavor without alcohol taking over, but this can be a pro or con, depending on what you’re seeking to get out of your sparkling tequila.
