Kellogg’s now has mermaid, unicorn and birthday cake waffles

Waffles are one of the best breakfast foods out there. It’s carbs, it’s crispy, and you can cover it in syrup, fruit, or let’s be honest, ice cream. It a delicious delivery system for more sugar. What’s not to like? But Kellogg’s is putting a whole new spin on waffles with their latest offerings.

You can now get waffles in mermaid, birthday cake, and unicorn varieties. The food industry loves nothing more than a trend and Kellogg’s is taking birthday cake, mermaids, and unicorns and running with it. But unlike with other products, this isn’t just a food coloring situation. They aren’t just dying the waffles different colors; Kellogg’s is actually mixing up the flavors too.

The mermaid waffle is a bluish-green color and tastes like blue raspberry. You might want to skip the maple syrup and go with something else for the topping on these. I’m not sure how maple and blue raspberry would go together.

The unicorn waffle is light pink in color and tastes like cotton candy. This might be one you want to top with fruit. Unless you’re a sugarholic (no judgment here), cotton candy flavoring and syrup or powdered sugar might be too sweet.

Kellogg’s waffles feature cotton candy, blue raspberry, and birthday cake flavors

The birthday cake flavored waffle is yellow like a yellow cake and is flavored like one too. It also has rainbow sprinkles mixed in for a festive touch. I would totally drizzle melted down cream cheese icing on these. Actually…you could drizzle cream cheese icing on any of these flavors and it wouldn’t be bad. Cream cheese icing can really do no wrong.

But back to the waffles! The mermaid and birthday cake waffles were both spotted at Safeway while the unicorn waffles were seen at Albertsons. So when you’re at your local supermarket, make sure to check the frozen waffle aisle for any mermaids, unicorns, or birthday cakes.

If you can’t find these, you can always go for the cinnamon toast Eggo’s. One of my all-time favorites!
