Kids in America are eating more fast food than before, according to a new report
American kids and adolescents are eating more and more fast food, NBC News reports. According to a new report, a new record-high amount of kids are eating fast food, why do you think this is?
The new data shares that about 13.8% of children and adolescents got 13.8% of their daily calories are from fast food from 2015 to 2018, which is up from 12.4% in 2011-2012. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we can expect these numbers to be even higher.
Despite numerous fast food chains and restaurants shutting down after the outbreak, families relied on food delivery services and drive-thru over cooking.
Why more kids are eating fast food
Eating more of this food is understandable before, so imagine now! For many families, work never stopped despite quarantine. On the contrary, their schedules only got more hectic when homeschooling was added to the mix. Because of all this, the best option is to stop by quickly to grab some fast food or order delivery.
On the other hand, there are families who have lost their job. Less money means more affordable meals, which, unfortunately, means fast food.
What have you and your family been eating most while on quarantine? These numbers take a while to properly debut and update, so we won’t see the numbers for 2020 until after. But we’re predicting they’ll be record-high once again.
