A shortage of aluminum cans could mean a shortage of beer and other drinks
By Sandy C.
What does an aluminum can shortage mean for beer?
If you notice your favorite beer is low on stock (or completely out), it may be due to an aluminum can shortage. Here’s what’s going on.
According to Delish, nationwide shortages of aluminum cans are being reported as there is an increase in demand for aluminum products during the pandemic. Senior vice president for the Bewers Association shared with CNN Business, that:
"“Can supply is a big deal. We are seeing extended wait times for can orders and also some of the smaller players not having orders fulfilled.”"
Should we worry about the aluminum can shortage?
Beer isn’t the only beverage served in a can, soda, canned wine, and other drinks are, as well. And with restaurants and bars shut down (or with limited capacity) due to the COVID-19 outbreak, it’s not like we can order beer or drinks.
This leaves us with no choice but to purchase our favorite drinks at the store, but we may soon notice a shortage. How long will this last and how bad will it hurt canned drinks?
The source goes on to share that this is no easy fix. Delish predicts that “more manufacturing capacity won’t come until the end of 2021,” so we have a few months to go!
Which drink is your favorite to purchase in bulk from stores? Is there one you are worried about? Just when I was getting into canned wine, this happens! Jokes aside, I do wonder when we will all begin to notice the shortage when we go to stores.
