Papa John’s and Dole have announced a partnership to use pineapple on pizza.

As the debate about pineapple on pizza continues, Papa John’s and Dole have decided to weigh in. And if they have anything to say about it, the Super Hawaiian pizza might change minds about pineapple on pizzas.

According to Delish, Papa John’s has announced a partnership with Dole for their famous pineapple to be used on Papa John’s pizza. This is the latest step by Papa John’s to source good and fresh ingredients.

Papa John’s is boosting up the flavor for their Super Hawaiian Pizza

With the new partnership, Papa John’s is offering Dole pineapple tidbits on top of their Super Hawaiian Pizza. Along with pineapple, the Super Hawaiian Pizza — which first debuted in 2019 —  also includes julienne-cut Canadian bacon, hickory-smoked bacon, a three cheese blend, and real cheese made from mozzarella. All of the toppings sit atop Papa John’s signature sauce and a fresh and never frozen pizza dough.

In a press release, Paul Fabre, the SVP of Product Innovation at Papa John’s stated:

"At Papa John’s we believe that pineapple belongs on pizza. Partnering with Dole makes sense because there is nothing more important or vital to our business and to earning our customers’ trust than providing high-quality food. This starts with how we source our ingredients, including DOLE pineapple, which brings a rich sweetness to our pies."

All of the flavors combine for a great tasting pizza with just the right amount of sauce, meat, cheese, and a nice pop of sugary sweetness from the pineapple in every bite. The Canadian bacon serves as a bit of a substitute for the ham you might normally see on a traditional Hawaiian Pizza. The added hickory-smoked bacon and the quality of the Dole pineapple are surely what makes this Papa John’s pizza the Super Hawaiian Pizza. You’ll feel like you’re in the tropics while eating this pizza.

Personally I can go either way when it comes to pineapple on pizza. With the addition of DOLE Pineapple to their Super Hawaiian Pizza, I definitely say go with the pineapple. It’s definitely worth a try for anyone who is on the fence.
