Popeye’s is burning up taste buds with their Ghost Pepper Wings
Popeyes has brought back Ghost Pepper Wings just in time for football season.
There are not many things better than the combination of eating chicken wings and watching football. Thanks to their newest promotion, Popeyes has a unique style of chicken wing sure to kick things up a notch. As reported by Chewboom, the fast food chain has brought their Ghost Pepper Wings back to their menu.
These Popeyes wings are meant to be the ultimate level in spicy flavor. They are perfect for people who are not getting enough heat when they eat Popeyes Spicy Fried Chicken or their Spicy Chicken Sandwich. Heatseekers are thrilled while others should beware.
The chicken wings are marinated in what Popeyes calls an “exotic blend of peppers” and of course the blend is headlined by the infamous ghost pepper. The batches of chicken are marinated in the blend for 12 hours to help produce maximum heat.
Ghost peppers register between 855,000 to 1,041,427 on the Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) scale. For perspective, this is 107 to 417 times hotter than a jalapeno. After marinating in the heat mix, the wings are battered and fried to a crispy southern fried chicken wing.
Popeyes is offering a variety of options for customers to enjoy these wings.
The Ghost Pepper Wings are currently being offered in a 6-piece and 12-piece combo offer which also comes with a biscuit, a regular side, ranch dipping sauce, and a drink. You can also choose the dinner option which does not include a drink.
For those looking to dine on a family-sized meal, Popeyes is also offering an Ultimate Wing Bundle that includes a 24-piece order of the wings along with four regular sides, four biscuits, four small drinks, and a choice of four dipping sauces.
The fast food chain is only offering their Ghost Pepper Wings at locations for a limited time. They are also currently running their “Love That Game” giveaway promotion with Dr. Pepper so now is a great time to take advantage of two limited time promotions at Popeyes. Just be sure to have plenty of drinks to help cool down the wings.
