McDonald’s is struggling to keep up with the demand for the Travis Scott Meal
McDonald’s has a big hit on their hands with their Travis Scott Meal promotion. In fact, according to USA Today, the promotion’s success has led to a supply problem for the fast food chain. While this is a good problem to have, the company knows it has to make changes to keep this great deal going.
The Travis Scott Meal is pretty simple and it gives everyone a great deal on a specialized Quarter Pounder with Cheese meal for the low price of only $6. The meal and partnership which launched on September 8th have been so popular that it has caused McDonald’s to have a shortage of burgers amongst other ingredients nationwide. This is a not so small problem since the promotion is scheduled to last until October 4th.
McDonald’s is certainly happy with the issue because it means the promotional offer is indeed working. In a memo sent to employees, owners, and operators across the country, McDonald’s addressed the issue by saying “We’ve created a program that’s so compelling to our customers that it’s stretching our world-class supply chain; and if demand continues at these levels, more restaurants will break supply.”
McDonald’s is making changes to keep the promotion going through October 4th
One way McDonald’s has planned on helping with their supply issues is by changing their normal shipment practices and sending supplies to locations in the biggest need rather than to locations where there are still stocked amounts. However, this could lead to a shortage at these locations later on.
Another action taken by McDonald’s is to move the ordering process exclusively to its mobile app. Beginning on September 22nd, the Travis Scott Meal will only be available through the McDonald’s app. This is the first type of shortage for McDonald’s but they are taking it in stride.
