Chipotle is bringing back customer favorite Carne Asada for a limited time
Chipotle is giving a little excitement back into their menu. The comeback story features a menu item that became very popular at the end of last year. According to Chewboom, Chipotle is bringing back their Carne Asada for a limited time. It’s great news and a great addition to Taco Tuesday.
Chipotle debuted the Carne Asada protein option in September 2019. The new protein choice was marketed as a limited time offer, but it lasted on menus until February of this year. It was a popular item and caused menu shortages during the previous run. The restaurant chain is expecting to avoid a repeat with the extension of suppliers for the meat.
The Carne Asada is seasoned with a blend of spices and then grilled in small batches. After grilling, it gets cut and then hit with squeezes of fresh lime and cilantro. It was particularly popular in uses of both tacos and burritos. Part of the appeal was also the carne asada being Keto, Paleo, and Whole 30 friendly.
Carne asada was so popular when it launched last year it became Chipotle’s fastest-selling new protein launch. The company also credited the promotion for an 11 percent rise in same-store sales during the quarter it launched.
Chipotle has a unique rollout for the Carne Asada promotional availability
The Carne Asada is available for Chipotle Rewards customers to order through the store app or on Chipotle.com exclusively on Tuesday Sept. 22 through Wednesday Sept. 23. Then from Sept. 23 through Sept. 27 Carne Asada will only be available for order via the Chipotle app or the website.
It becomes available for in-restaurant orders across the U.S. on Monday, Sept. 28. Chipotle launched the item in a similar fashion last year and they essentially want to give an added reward for Rewards members and app users.
As part of the relaunch, carne asada will also be available in Canada and France. It will be the first time this protein will be offered in France and it is also the first new protein introduction to the European market.
