After a reported increase in COVID-19 cases, will fast food restaurants close?

Recent reports from the CDC share that an increase in COVID-19 cases may change things across the nation once again. Will a second shutdown force more fast food joints and restaurants to close? Here’s what we know.

Depending on where you live, there may not even be a COVID-19 surge. The increases are only happening in some states. Still, that may not be enough for the state to close as each has had its own rules from the beginning — some more concerned than others. Just look at New York and Florida.

That said, I don’t see fast food restaurants closing, but they may no longer allow people inside and stick to drive-thru only and curbside pickup. As for restaurants, those who are truly in danger may roll back on the number of guests they can have inside.

What will change in the fast food restaurant industry with COVID-19 surge?

I can see drive-thru and curbside pick up being the reality of many states for several months to come. Restaurants may close as well, but only dine-in.

This will hurt small businesses, as they may not be drawing enough attention to stay open with to-go orders alone. This is a great reminder to always try to support small businesses.

CNBC reports that after stay-at-home orders, over “100,000 bars and restaurants have permanently closed.”  Fast food chains and chain restaurants have recovered nicely since the reopening.

Due to a high demand for fast food, drive-thru lanes are reportedly slower. Fast food chains have also gotten clever as they are dishing out more deals than before. And hey, no complaints here on that.

Next. The food and supplies we’ll see less of with COVID-19 surge. dark

Which fast food restaurant do you stop by the most? Was there a restaurant that shut down after the first COVID-19 wave?
