Chef David Chang makes history on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire

David Chang made history on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire

In the Nov. 29 episode of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Chef David Chang made history and all in the name of the Southern Smoke Foundation.

According to Eater, Chef Chang’s Who Wants to Be a Millionaire appearance began on the episode which first aired on Nov. 15. In that first episode, the chef revealed that he was playing the game to win money for the Southern Smoke Foundation, an organization that helps to “provide financial assistance to people in the food and beverage industry.”

And for those unfamiliar with Chef David Chang, he is not only the founder of Momofuku, but he is also known for shows such as Ugly Delicious and Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner, to name a few. The chef also has a few books under his belt, including a memoir titled, Eat a Peach: A Memoir.

How did Chef David Chang make history on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

If you have made it this far, then you are probably waiting to find out how history was made. It turns out that Chef David Chang is the first ever celebrity to play Who Wants to Be a Millionaire to actually win the $1 million!

In the Nov. 29 episode, Chang, with the help of his phone a friend Mina Kimes, was able to answer the million dollar question correctly, leading to an epic donation to the Southern Smoke Foundation.

Of course, it is important to point out that in many ways this was a group effort, as he also had assistance from Kimes on the final question, as well as Alan Yang who sat behind him as his in-person support.

While the chef is not the first person to win the million dollar prize, the fact that he is the first celebrity to do it is exactly what makes his turn on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire so historic.
