When it comes to kid’s meals at fast food chains, toys matter! As a parent, I’ve seen one too many toys, and they’re not all great! But which one offers the worse one — Wendy’s or Sonic?
Not to throw shade at either Wendy’s or Sonic, but I’m only stating facts. I’m all about healthier options than McDonald’s fries, for example, but my kids aren’t jumping for joy when I tell them we’re grabbing Wendy’s. And they don’t get excited about Sonic, either.
Fast food chains have been doing a great job at offering healthy substitutions and meals for kids. As mentioned, McDonald’s offers apples, Sonic suggests Apple sauce instead of tater tots, and so on.
This matters a lot to parents, we do appreciate it. But at the end of the day, kids are the real judges. Sure, we can make them eat Wendy’s (their apples are the best), we are the parent, but they won’t be happy about it. They’ll argue and try to change our minds.
Is there any arguing when we tell them we are going to stop for Happy Meals on our way home? None at all. On the contrary, they love it. Let’s break down both Wendy’s Kids’ Meals and Sonic’s Wacky Packs.
Does Wendy’s of Sonic offer the worst kids’ meals?
Wendy’s offers only three options: 4-piece nuggets, a hamburger, or a cheeseburger. Your sides are either apples or fries, and to drink you can select water, milk, chocolate milk, or a Jr. Frosty.
Sonic has several choices: Hamburger, crispy tenders, hot dog, corn dog, or grilled cheese. You can have regular fries or tater tots for the side, and to drink you can have a small soft drink, small Sonic Slush, apple juice, or orange juice.
Please note that different locations may offer other options than what I list above.
Just from the choices, Sonic appears to win. But not so fast. From the many times I have been there, I have found that their “toys” are repetitive and poor in quality. Last I visited with the kids, they got Teen Titans toys, and they kept getting the same one (which is the least popular one).
The quality of Wendy’s toys aren’t all that great, either, but they are at least more entertaining than Sonic’s. Currently, they are offering dough, which you can’t go wrong with!
The winner (loser?): Sonic has the worst toys! However, they do offer better and more meal options so, it’s all up to you!
