Whether you are watching alone, doing a virtual watch party, or have members of your personal bubble joining you to watch Super Bowl LV, you might want to shake things up in both the eating and drinking department. And what better way to do that than with Pepper Teigen and BABE Wine.

Not only did Teigen give us all an early look at her upcoming cookbook, The Pepper Thai Cookbook, by releasing her recipe for Spicy Thai Chicken Wings, but she also partnered with BABE Wine to showcase how this brand of canned wines can pair with just about anything. And as an official wine sponsor of the NFL, we already had an idea that this is not your average canned wine.

Whether it is making Pepper Teigen’s Spicy Thai Chicken Wings or indulging in a can of BABE Wine, we are excited for this year’s Super Bowl. And that means not only are we ready to make these chicken wings for ourselves, but we plan to enjoy every bite with a can of this wine at our side.

Personally, I am excited to pair the BABE Grigio with Bubbles and the BABE Rose with Bubbles with Teigen’s chicken wings. And honestly, these canned wines seem like they will pair perfectly with any chicken wings and appetizer bites.

According to Teigen:

"I love introducing Thai flavors to everyone through my food – my recipes are so simple to make, delicious and fun! To me, BABE is the exact same way and pairs well with so many dishes, including my Crispy Chicken Wings."

So exactly how do we create these epic wings from Pepper Teigen? Luckily we have the full recipe just in case you want to whip up a batch for your Super Bowl viewing and snacking.

Ingredients List:

  • 3 pounds of chicken wings that have been patted dry
  • 1/2 tablespoon of garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon of ground pepper (Teigen uses white pepper in her recipe)
  • 3/4 cups of flour (make sure you are using all-purpose flour)
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1/4 cup + 3 tablespoons of fish sauce
  • Thai sweet chili sauce or a Spicy Garlic-Lime Fish Sauce
  • Vegetable oil, for deep-frying your wings

Instructions:

In a large bowl add your chicken wings and then add the fish sauce (or the sweet chili sauce), garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss everything together to coat the chicken wings. Then set aside for at least 15 minutes (if putting in the refrigerator, set aside for 30 minutes).

Then in a large pot or wok (if you have one), fill at least two inches high with the vegetable oil, leaving plenty of room between the top of the oil and the rim of the pot and then heat until the oil reaches 370 degrees.

You’ll also want a sheet pan on the side with a wire rack so that excess oil can drip off your wings.

While your oil is heating up, take a small bowl and whisk and mix together the flour, baking powder and cornstarch. Take the dry mix and sprinkle it over the marinated chicken wings and then toss until a paste like consistency forms over the wings and they are evenly coated in the paste mix.

Once your oil is at temperature and your wings are coated, take four or five of the wings and add them into the oil. You’ll want to fry them up until they turn a golden brown, which should take between three and four minutes. Once the wings are cooked, pull them from the oil and place the on the wire rack to drain while frying up your next batch.

After all of your wings are fried up, serve with some of the Thai Sweet Chili Sauce or you can give the Fish Sauce a try. Either way, your wings are good to go and you can enjoy your BABE Wines with these fresh made chicken wings.
